The Balance Report
An examination of communications bias in the US and European technology sectors
As a technology sector specialist operating in both US and European markets Babel PR is often exposed to marked differences in the way tech companies address each region. Using independent research, this report looks at the following:
- The attention the sector’s most active companies pay to each of the markets
- The relative opportunities for technology companies to achieve media coverage within specific geographies
Although it is impossible for an ‘outsider’ to draw direct conclusions for any of the individuals companies mentioned in this report, it’s clear that the data exposes valuable intelligence. It can help technology sector companies tailor and balance their communications between the two regions more appropriately, to expose themselves to new market opportunities and to increase the return on investment from media interaction.
Data within this report has been sourced from Babel’s research partner Apollo Research for the period June to August 2015. Apollo Research focuses exclusively on the technology sector and concentrates on the tracking and analysis of tier one and two media outlets. The company ignores the peripheral titles and announcement reprint sites that so often skew less discerning analysis. Specifically, we looked at where companies appeared over time in the US and European Apollo 500 listings. The Apollo 500 listings rank technology companies according to media coverage within a wide range of technology, trade, vertical sector and general business media.
