CCA Partners with Devicescape to Offer Curated Wi-Fi Offload

SAN BRUNO, Calif., September 17, 2013— Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) today announced a strategic partnership with Devicescape that will allow CCA carrier members access to Curated Wi-Fi offload and an “always best connected” user experience. As the number of mobile devices and amount of data usage continues to increase, carriers are driven to find ways to accommodate growing consumer demand. For smaller carriers, deploying additional small cells, cell-splitting or proprietary Wi-Fi networks may require cost-prohibitive capital expenditure.

Devicescape recognizes curated amenity Wi-Fi as a core strategy that helps carriers balance cost and network capacity. Instead of deploying a proprietary network of Wi-Fi access points, carriers can magnify their capacity-reach by leveraging the tens of millions of high-quality hotspots already established by venue owners and open for public use. The company’s Curator Service grants carriers access to over 16 million global public Wi-Fi hotspots that are continuously curated for quality from more than 250 million hotspots worldwide, making it the world’s largest network of quality-controlled Wi-Fi.

“Partnering with Devicescape to extend their unique and powerful services to our member carriers has the potential to bring significant value to their subscribers and bottom line,” said CCA President and CEO Steven K. Berry. “Devicescape’s services manage operator data traffic leveraging curated public Wi-Fi, and we are pleased that our members have the opportunity to take advantage of their innovative services.”

“Devicescape’s Curator Service not only helps carriers get ahead of increasing data demand, but also provides an elevated experience to mobile subscribers,” said Devicescape CEO Dave Fraser. “By partnering with CCA, we hope to let members know that curated public Wi-Fi is not only a cost-effective capacity-reach alternative, but also provides an immediate performance boost.”

Devicescape will be on hand at the 2013 CCA Annual Convention in Las Vegas, NV Sept. 15-18. To schedule a meeting at the show, please visit:  https://www.devicescape.com/company/contact-us. Carriers interested in learning more about this agreement should contact Brad Blanken, CCA’s VP of Industry Development, for further details.
