Devicescape Unleashes Free, Automated Wi-Fi across Las Vegas during CTIA

SAN BRUNO, Calif., May 16, 2013 — Devicescape today announced the immediate availability of MagniFi CTIA, a free app for Android devices that will enable conference attendees to utilize an expansive network of complimentary Wi-Fi hotspots across Las Vegas during CTIA 2013, to be held May 21-23.

As businesses converge on Las Vegas in the industry’s largest regional mobile ecosystem showcase, more than 40,000 expected CTIA attendees will have exclusive access through the MagniFi CTIA app to thousands of free public Wi-Fi hotspots around the city of Las Vegas. While Wi-Fi is not centrally available in the CTIA venue, the app will elevate user experience locating and connecting to Wi-Fi just outside the conference and throughout the city. The collection of Wi-Fi hotspots is made possible through Devicescape’s Curated Virtual Network (CVN) of over 12 million global amenity Wi-Fi hotspots, normally only available through select mobile operators that have deployed Devicescape’s Curator Service.

“The MagniFi CTIA app, backed by the full power of our CVN, not only makes Wi-Fi access in Las Vegas a breeze during the CTIA show, but will allow visiting mobile operators to sample our Curator Service in action,” said David Nowicki, CMO of Devicescape. “Downloading the MagniFi CTIA app will ensure your mobile device is using the best available connection, whether it’s Wi-Fi or cellular.”

When operators deploy Devicescape’s Curator Service, the Curator Client software runs in the background of a mobile device as a system service that automatically connects to the best network for the subscriber. For users at CTIA, the MagniFi CTIA app features a special user interface to provide a “trial” experience that also includes Wi-Fi data gauges and meters that provide information about how much Wi-Fi data is being used, the quality of the Wi-Fi connection in real-time and the number of Wi-Fi access points a mobile device has connected to using the app.

After downloading the app, visit Devicescape at Booth 3729A to get a behind-the-scenes view of how Devicescape’s CVN is extending the capacity-reach of wireless operator networks.
