MWC – it’s just around the corner (honest)!
It seems only yesterday that we were all in Barcelona for MWC 2018 but getting the most from the event, as all veterans know, is predicated on thorough preparation. It’s why we start the process as early as possible at Babel PR – our aim is to extract every bit of value we can from our clients’ investment in the industry’s annual showcase. What should always be remembered is that your PR efforts shouldn’t simply be focused on the few days between 26th February to 1st March.
It’s always good to be securing coverage in the show daily, the online titles that publish news during the show and even the inevitable post-show roundups. It’s also great if you can secure a series of briefings with the influential analysts and journalists who attend from just about every country. Visibility at the show is important but our view has always been that another key objective is to make sure the stand and meeting room are packed with potential customers and partners keen to do business. If there was ever a measure of success at MWC, standing room only at the exhibition stand has to be high on the list!
So, if a busy stand is a key measure of success, how do you make sure it happens, particularly if you don’t happen to be a tier one operator or a major handset manufacturer? The reality is that if you leave it all to the event itself, you may be left twiddling your thumbs and so the aim ought to be to generate as much positive attention prior to the event. You want everyone to know about you before you get to Barcelona so that they have you marked as ‘one to watch. That’s what we do at Babel – you will find teams of ‘Babelites’ running around the Fira during MWC but the bulk of the work will have already been implemented and our clients will be those with the busy stands.
