Unleashing UK Tech Innovation
Each year, global IT and recruitment firm Talent International holds a prestigious awards programme – Talent Unleashed – that recognises outstanding start-ups and inspiring entrepreneurs dedicated to transforming business and the wider community through technological innovation. While the awards programme has been running for a number of years, it has failed to generate the level of media interest desired to drive visibility, encourage increased participation from UK businesses and deliver coverage of the innovative companies that enter the awards. Announcements were slipping under the radar of the tech, recruitment and business press they had previously been targeting. As a result, Talent approached Babel PR to help promote the 2016 awards and build Talent’s profile with relevant media.
Babel created a three-phase programme to help drive awareness of the awards, gain the support of relevant media and drive coverage for both the awards and Talent as a leading recruitment consultancy. The first phase of the campaign would involve securing a UK national media partner to act as a UK judge for this year’s entries as well as cover previous and 2016 winners. Phase two of the campaign involved using the prestigious panel of judges – Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson – to highlight the importance and prestige of the awards, build visibility with technology, recruitment and business press and encourage UK businesses to enter. The third phase of the campaign focused on simultaneously promoting and profiling Talent International as a global recruitment expert alongside the awards programme.
Over the course of three months, Babel successfully raised awareness of the awards to the point where the PR team itself was receiving inbound enquiries from companies interested in entering. The Telegraph was secured as a national level media partner and judge for the awards, which led to a significant profiling for the 2015 award winners. In addition, a significant amount of coverage was generated in tier one national, business and technology titles around the call for entries release. A number of thought-leadership opportunities, discussing various business issues were also secured with national and recruitment press to consolidate Talent’s position as a leading IT recruitment firm with its finger on the pulse of tech innovation. Activity culminated in a highly successful presentation evening when the winning companies were presented with their awards.
