Creating a leader in OpenRAN
THE CHALLENGE
Parallel Wireless is a key start-up in the telecoms sector, helping networks introduce OpenRAN to become more open, flexible and software-centric. The company approached Babel to help develop new messaging, increase its visibility and improve its share of voice against its major competitors.
THE SOLUTION
Babel developed a position paper (messaging document) focusing on the role of OpenRAN in the development of 5G networks. This was used to drive proactive thought leadership engagement with key trade and business press.
Babel also developed issues-based content focused on major news issues, such as network sharing and alternatives to Huawei equipment, to tap into the live media agenda. Babel also put together a programme of activity to raise visibility for Parallel Wireless at MWC Barcelona.
THE OUTCOME
Within a four month period, over 80 pieces of coverage were secured, including the Financial Times, Washington Post, Fox News, Washington Times and a host of tech and telco trade media. 50% of coverage during this campaign were generated from thought leadership (non-news) activity. Coverage secured stemmed from briefings, thought leadership bylines, issues jump comments and podcast interviews.
Four panel speakerships secured for MWC20 Barcelona (before its cancellation). Further briefings were held with Reuters, Bloomberg, City AM, Sunday Express and more. As a result of the campaign, Parallel Wireless’ share of voice increased drastically against its major competitors, with the company going from third place to first.
