Babel PR certifies as a B Corporation – why does this matter now and for the future?
As one of the largest, employee-owned, independent tech PR agencies in Europe, Babel’s B Corp recognition marks the first in a range of measures introduced by the agency, all geared towards creating a better and fairer working world.
The details …
The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 – Babel achieved a score of 121 – while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.
But what else are we doing?
Alongside our B Corp Certification, Babel was also a successful applicant for one of only 50 places on the new pilot training accreditation scheme ‘Empowered Foundations’ from Pregnant Then Screwed. Funded by the Department of Health and Social Care, and in partnership with Best Beginnings, the scheme has enabled Babel to understand how to best support key aspects of pregnancy and fertility at work, with in-depth training on and number of key issues. Babel is also making strong headway with its EDI accreditation goals.
And what does this mean to us?
Commenting on the news, Narelle Morrison, COO at Babel said: “Being B Corp certified is a testament to our agency’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility. It’s about transparency and accountability, ensuring we meet the highest standards of ethical business practices. This is not just a badge, it’s a reflection of who we are and what we stand for.“
“We fully recognise our responsibility to our people, our community, and the planet,” said Jenny Mowat, CEO at Babel PR. “Our agency has always put our people front and centre of what we do and these recent accolades are hard-won; a prestigious recognition of a fulfilled obligation and testament to our continued commitment to create a better future for all.”
