Employee Appreciation Day: Celebrating our culture-led agency

On Friday 1st March, Babel, like many other organisations up and down the country, will be celebrating Employee Appreciation Day. A perfect opportunity to show our appreciation for the hard work and dedication that our people bring to work every day.

That being said, much like Valentine’s Day, we don’t actually think you need a specific day to appreciate your employees, because at Babel, Employee Appreciation Day is every day! Okay, that sounds a bit corny but it’s true. We really do operate on a people-first basis at Babel, because it’s our people that make us tick. They’re the beating heart of what we do and what we can deliver to our clients. 

So, how will we be celebrating this year? With some of our team out of the country at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, we decided to run with the Spanish theme, and share in a tapas feast from across the miles. The Babel team are pretty used to breaking bread together, with shared team lunches every day in the office, and our popular Babel salad bar in operation, we certainly do appreciate a proper Babel family meal.

Beyond treating the team to the odd slap-up meal, real employee appreciation remains front and centre of life here at Babel. Here are just a few of the schemes we run to show our Babel team just how much they’re valued:

• a monthly extended lunch break (because we all have life admin to catch up on).
• well-being day (because we all need a duvet day every now and then).
• 4pm finish on Fridays (because who doesn’t love an early Friday finish?).
• birthdays off work (it’s a special day, after all!).
• we operate the one-hour-less initiative during August, giving our team the time to enjoy the fleeting British summer.

As well as ongoing employee feedback communication, training and both professional and personal support, we believe in giving back to our lot all day, every day, and not just today. But even so, happy Employee Appreciation Day to our Babel team. You all rock!
