Are you a recent graduate or looking to start your career in PR/Communications? Babel, a technology PR and integrated communications consultancy headquartered in London, is looking for a Junior Campaign Executive to work as part of their thriving, creative, solutions-led team. A Consultant at the Junior Campaign Executive level is Babel’s graduate entry position.  At this level, you will develop your PR and marketing skills, learning the basics of media and analyst relations, client management, digital and marketing techniques, and B2B technology. 

 

Experience: Candidates should demonstrate relevant work experience, specifically writing skills and phone experience. Preferred skills and experience:

  • Strong communication skills, demonstrated virtually and in person.
  • Strong writing skills, both short-form and long-form. 
  • An interest in the B2B technology sector.
  • Motivated to learn and strives for high quality.
  • Can work collaboratively and independently.  
  • Compassionate to others’ ways of working and personal preferences. 

Salary: £26,326 + a 5% performance bonus.

Career advancement: Due to our training and development programme being one of the best in the PR industry, promotion from Junior Campaign Executive to Campaign Executive is possible after 9-12 months. The current Campaign Executive salary is £28,000 + bonus. Successful promotions are subject to performance.

The first six weeks of employment: For the first six weeks new joiners are required to work from the office-based four days a week for training purposes (and one day working from home). After six weeks, new joiners can work three days in the office and two days at home.

 

Job Description: Consultant - Junior Campaign Executive

The job and what you’ll be doing

Media and analyst relations

  • Understanding what influencers write/report about and what kind of stories will interest them. 
  • Developing media and analysts lists, and proactively keeping them updated. 
  • Pitching press releases (announcements) to relevant media and analysts, calling journalists as the primary approach. 
  • Drafting media pitches based on approved messaging from clients.
  • Creating new media pitches, with the support and approval of campaign managers/leads. 
  • Pitching media and analysts with a phone-first approach, with a view of securing media opportunities such as interviews, contributed articles and other written opportunities.  
  • Start to identify topics for issues jumps based on current news. Flag the opportunity to the campaign manager/lead.
  • Building personal relationships with media and analysts through conversation (phone, email, social media and face-to-face). 
  • Helping to organise events, such as trade shows, media tours, workshops, press conferences, etc. 
  • Building and managing a list of upcoming relevant feature opportunities for clients. 

Content development

  • Drafting media and analyst pitches based on briefs from the team, client, or approved content. 
  • Drafting press releases based on content plans, approved by campaign manager or above.
  • Drafting long-form content such as contributed articles based on approved content plans. 
  • Drafting short-form content, such as issues jumps and comments. 
  • Drafting or contributing ideas towards marketing content such as blogs, whitepapers, social media and mailer copy. 
  • Reviewing and analysing research reports.

Client and campaign management

  • Developing industry knowledge by reading daily news and flagging relevant stories to campaign teams and clients. 
  • Preparing for and contributing to client and internal meetings, demonstrating knowledge and insight.
  • Highly responsive to client and team emails and requests, communicating relevant information in a timely fashion.
  • Daily reporting and campaign tasks including forward features/editorial calendar research, coverage monitoring/clipping, digital workbooks/reports and agendas/actions.
  • Daily use of campaign tools and software including Response Source, Signal, Features Exec, Roxhill, CoverageBook and Feedly.
  • Tracking and monitoring campaign hours against campaign results.
