GTT selects BICS to upgrade its backbone network in Europe
Brussels – Belgium, 16 October, 2014 – BICS, a global wholesale carrier for voice, mobile data and capacity services, has announced GTT, the leading global cloud networking provider, will use the BICS Pan European Network (PEN) 2.0 to increase the level of performance and reliability of its network.
GTT operates a global Tier 1 network, offering its customers the backbone infrastructure to effectively do business in today’s high-speed global economy. Due to increasing demand from its customers for high-bandwidth services, GTT needed to find a high quality partner able to supply a complete European network offering low-latency 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE).
BICS owns and operates 9,000 kilometres of fibre in Europe with a cable landing station in Marseille accessing the Europe India Gateway (EIG) and SEA-ME-WE 4 submarine cable systems. BICS engages closely with its customers to ensure the latest technology and value added services they require are available.
Bob Burris, SVP Global Engineering and Operations, GTT says: “The BICS platform provides GTT with a flexible solution to expand its backbone network bandwidth while keeping operating expenses under control. The combination of a state of the art network and a capacity competence centre with a multi-national and highly skilled staff at our service convinced us to select BICS.”
Johan Wouters, SVP Capacity Business Management, BICS says: “At BICS we are flexible and responsive in meeting the requirements of our customers. That’s also why we have invested heavily in our pan-European Network to make it 100GbE ready. The infrastructure enables our customers to expand their high-speed backbone network and deliver excellent services to their customers.”
