Tim Owen joins Devicescape as VP of Sales EMEA
London, UK, December 18, 2013 – Devicescape today announced that former Telmap executive Tim Owen has joined the company as Vice President of Sales, EMEA. Owen will lead Devicescape’s continued expansion in the EMEA market, providing the sales and mobile operator expertise to drive the company’s growth throughout the region.
Owen joins Devicescape from Telmap, where he served as UK Director responsible for driving commercial and sales strategy. During his tenure he helped to establish Telmap as a global leader in mobile location based cloud services.
“Tim has regional sales experience and a proven ability to open up the market to new technologies,” said Dave Fraser, CEO of Devicescape. “We are now entering a period of significant growth as mobile operators and device manufacturers recognize the value of integrating amenity Wi-Fi into their core consumer proposition. With a highly developed amenity Wi-Fi infrastructure already in place, the European market is a key focus for us.”
“I’m looking forward to driving growth for Devicescape in EMEA,” said Owen. “It is a busy and competitive market, but one where demand is high for cost-effective solutions that deliver an enhanced subscriber experience. Devicescape’s Curated Virtual Network of amenity Wi-Fi hotspots is a unique and highly disruptive platform that delivers benefits to operators, device manufacturers, venue owners and consumers. It is an exciting proposition that is both timely and very relevant.”
Prior to joining Telmap, Owen was Executive Head of Sales at Trafficmaster and has held roles with Yeoman Navigation and Offshore Telecom. Owen is also a keen yachtsman and was a key member of the Ariel crew in the 1998-1999 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race; his team won by a record margin.
Devicescape monitors more than 250 million global Wi-Fi hotspots in real time to deliver its industry-leading Curator Service to mobile operators. The Devicescape Curated Virtual Network consists of more than 16 million quality-controlled access points, the largest such network of Wi-Fi hotspots in the world.
