Vislink launches Gigawave INCAM system to support Grass Valley LDX camera series
Sept. 11th, 2013 – Vislink, the global provider of broadcast communications technologies, has today announced the launch of its latest Gigawave INCAM system at IBC 2013 in Amsterdam. Designed for Grass Valley’s LDX camera series, the new INCAM system meets growing demand from broadcast industry professionals for in built transmitter and camera control technology.
Ashley Jackson, Business Development Manager at Vislink, said: “The Sony INCAM system generated a great deal of interest from broadcast professionals and required us to expand our INCAM range to meet this growing demand. Our collaboration with Grass Valley brings the wireless benefits of our INCAM system to a new breed of camera equipment, creating a range of additional opportunities for both sports events and broadcast scenarios.”
Following the successful launch of the Sony system, the new Grass Valley INCAM will use Gigawave’s latest wireless camera transmitter, providing H.264 encoding. The camera control module is built into the transmission adapter of the camera, while full control and set up of the Gigawave INCAM unit is handled from the viewfinder menu.
Grass Valley’s LDX series launched last year and is a full 1080i/p 50/59.94 (3G) and 720p 50/59.94 camera. Because of the dockable concept of the LDX Series the Gigawave INCAM system can be easily integrated into this camera series, providing significant advantages in terms of weight distribution and bespoke configuration.
“Our collaboration with Gigawave allows us to offer a new level of flexibility to LDX users,” said Marcel Koutstaal, Senior Vice President Camera Group, Grass Valley. “The newly integrated wireless transmission capability enables the LDX series to further facilitate high-performance live event coverage to ensure that viewers never miss a second of the action. The addition of wireless capabilities to the LDX range makes it the most complete camera system on the market.”
