More about Panelist2021 is a significant year in the ongoing attempts to reduce the rate of climate change. In November the UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26). The summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
As host of the summit, the UK has been trying to convince other countries to adopt more ambitious climate goals ahead of the meeting. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has accepted the recommendations of the UK’s Climate Change Committee to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 78% by 2035, and by 68% by 2030. US President Joe Biden has pledged to halve his country’s emissions by 2030 compared with 1990 levels.
The role of technology will be integral if these ambitious targets are to be met. US climate envoy John Kerry recently said that he believes half the reductions that have yet to be made to get to net zero will come from new technology. In this Babel webinar an expert panel discussed the role of technology in fighting climate change and how, in the year of COP26, greentech firms can raise their profile among potential customers and investors.
Among the topics discussed:
• How firms with a focus on ‘green’ technology can raise awareness via the media
• The role of PR in helping to secure investment
• How best to pitch to influential journalists
