HPE

The Brief

In 2024, HPE appointed Babel as its UK agency of record. The brief was to position HPE as a leader in supercomputing and AI, while raising the profile of UK Managing Director Matt Harris as a credible and influential thought leader in these areas.

The Insight

The UK’s national conversation around AI and advanced computing was accelerating, but government policy — particularly around exascale computing — lacked clear commitment. This created an opportunity for HPE to shape the debate, demonstrate leadership, and influence how advanced computing could support the UK’s public sector, industry, and economy.

The Strategy

Babel developed a proactive, agenda-led PR strategy aligned to key government milestones. Ahead of the Autumn Budget, we created thought leadership commentary highlighting the transformative potential of exascale computing and the risks of the UK falling behind global competitors.

This approach was replicated around the Government’s AI Opportunities Plan, with tailored messaging positioning Matt Harris as an authority on both the opportunities and challenges of AI adoption. Babel leveraged strong media relationships to secure high-impact interviews and coverage across top-tier business and technology titles.

The Impact

The campaign secured widespread, high-profile coverage, including interviews and commentary in Financial Times, The Telegraph, Politico and the Times (print). These placements positioned HPE as a leading voice on exascale computing and AI in the UK, while establishing Matt Harris as a trusted expert shaping the national conversation on advanced computing and artificial intelligence.
