Hafslund Implements Recommind Search and Categorization Solutions
Helps Norwegian power company to enable recovery of business-critical information and improve efficiency
London, UK – 12th June 2012: Recommind, a recognised leader in predictive information management and analysis software, today announced it will be providing its automated information access solution, Decisiv Search and Categorization to Norwegian power company, Hafslund. Hafslund will implement Decisiv Search and Categorization across its operations to provide a richer search experience to employees. The project is due for completion in Autumn 2012 when Recommind’s technology will be fully integrated with Hafslund’s existing ERP and CRM systems. All 1,000 Hafslund employees will then be using Recommind for document search and electronic records compliance.
Hafslund is the largest owner of power grids, and the largest seller of electricity to end-users in Norway. The company works with multiple suppliers and contractors in several locations. Its day to day business involves the management and use of a variety of complex project documents, such as contracts and drawings. Hafslund has already deployed Decisiv Search alongside its existing archive solution; and plans to implement the categorization aspect of the solution later this year. This will enable project managers to search for documents related to a specific customer, supplier or project saving time, unifying the business and freeing up staff to redirect their efforts to core activities.
Stian Bjørhei at Hafslund commented, “We are using Microsoft Sharepoint to store information about a project and primarily used the integrated search engine to recover and reuse. Contracts, drawings and construction documentation related to the same project are stored in other archives or applications. This involved a lot of needless repetitive searches in different user interfaces. Given the complexity of the archives Hafslund holds, there was a real need for a search solution that can be integrated across different systems, including SharePoint, and that is able to index and enrich information for easy data retrieval. Recommind’s Decisiv Search and Categorization solution was the clear choice because of its user friendly search function and outstanding ability to categorize information.”
He continues: “By recognizing concepts in different documents, Recommind’s automated categorization engine will enhance the relevance of each search and allow us to make information more sociable across the enterprise, something that we currently struggle with.”
Bob Tennant, CEO of Recommind added, “Companies in the energy industry are experiencing exponential growth of electronic data, so we are pleased that Hafslund has selected Recommind to help address their information management needs. Our Decisiv Search solution will provide the essential logic to easily index and quickly retrieve documents from Hafslund’s various information systems, allowing staff to respond to market and legislative changes with speed and efficiency. The solution will integrate easily into the company’s existing IT platforms and will enable the collaboration and shared workflow that was lacking from Hafslund’s original platform. ”
Hafslund plans to roll out the Recommind solution across its entire business and has already begun deploying its search solution across the intranet system.
