OpenCloud Looks Forward with Appointment of new CTO
Cambridge, UK – 6th Sept, 2012 – Telecoms software innovator OpenCloud today announced the appointment of a new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the creation of a new post, Chief Engineer, as part of a company-wide initiative to further strengthen its market position. Former Vodafone and Airwide executive Phillip Stubbs assumes the role of CTO while previous CTO, David Ferry, takes on the position of Chief Engineer with the company’s research and development (R&D) division based in New Zealand.
Throughout the last five years, OpenCloud has experienced strong growth in demand for its service layer solutions based on its Rhino product suite. In recent months OpenCloud has announced agreements with a number of tier one operators and new market entrants, all looking to stand out from the competition with the introduction of innovative new services and price plans. The increasing use of Rhino by many CSPs to deliver their key services and the demand for differentiation requires dedicated focus from OpenCloud’s CTO’s office to identify individual customer needs. It also requires a strong commitment to product engineering to deliver OpenCloud products that meet those needs now, and in the future. The two teams will work closely together to ensure OpenCloud’s products are world-class solutions for the market’s evolving requirements.
Jeff Gordon, CEO of OpenCloud, discussed the company’s new strategic approach: “All CSPs are operating under financial constraints, but they are also under pressure to innovate and compete in the market. It is important that we structure our business to enable that innovation, particularly as new use-cases for our technology emerge. Phillip brings with him extensive experience of this market after working for specialist vendors that provide service layer solutions, but he also understands the mind-set of the carriers having held a number of senior posts at Vodafone. Under his strategic technical direction our products will continue to evolve to meet the changing requirements of CSPs. David, in his new capacity as Chief Engineer, will complement the new CTO appointment and bring his direct experience of the market to the R&D division. Close alignment between R&D and the CTO’s office will inform the future direction of the company and provide our customers with a robust proposition for many years to come.”
David Ferry’s reassignment constitutes a homecoming as he will be returning to his native New Zealand, where OpenCloud was founded – he originally relocated to the UK in 2007 to support this key phase of growth.
