Up next: International Cyber Expo 2024

The International Cyber Expo (ICE) is returning next week, and it’s set to be the coolest edition yet. 

The Babel team is excited to step into what is becoming one of London’s most intriguing cybersecurity events and explore the trends shaping the industry this year—and will no doubt continue to make waves as we head towards 2025. 

What to expect

First things first, no industry event is complete without keynotes, fireside chats, and panel sessions on the year’s most defining topics. This year’s theme is an increasingly important one in the face of mounting cyber threats: resilience. 

Take the recent CrowdStrike outage as an example. One failed update is estimated to have cost the company over five billion dollars, with over eight million Windows devices affected. It’s no wonder that many of the conversations at ICE will focus on cyber resilience, risk management, and the role geopolitics plays in technology.

Sometimes, cyber incidents are unavoidable. Our client, Veeam Software, knows all about solid cyber resilience, and they’ll tell you that suffering a breach is no longer a matter of if or when, but how often. It’s about stopping the attacks you can—and recovering from those you can’t.

There’s no place like the cyberspace

Of course, it wouldn’t be ICE without the chance to gather, connect, and network with industry experts and professionals. The expo offers the perfect opportunity to engage with the cyber community, explore the latest trends, and uncover potential partnerships.

If the talks and panels don’t quite scratch that itch, there’s plenty of hands-on involvement too. This year’s expo is packed with activities designed to give you firsthand insights into how cyber professionals handle attacks and offer a chance to dive into some of the most critical cyber prevention strategies in today’s digital world.

And, I have to say, the Cyber Escape Room sounds especially intriguing…

Celebrating diversity  

In the last few years, it’s been refreshing to see the industry-wide shift to recognise and promote mental health and diversity within the cybersecurity sector. 

At ICE 2024, we’re looking forward to seeing important conversations continue, with a variety of talks lined up. From highlighting the crucial role of women in cybersecurity to recognising the unique value that neurodivergent individuals bring to the field, there’s a lot to explore and learn from these discussions.
