Intercede shows a world without passwords at Mobile World Congress

LONDON, 24 February 2014 – Intercede®, a leading provider of identity and credential management software, will be demonstrating the future of mobile identity at Mobile World Congress, in partnership with Trustonic.

With usernames and passwords becoming increasingly unfit for purpose, organisations are moving towards certificate-based identities to authenticate users and devices. On mobile devices, the challenge for implementing strong authentication is making systems usable and protecting the credentials from theft by malware when stored on the devices.

At Mobile World Congress Intercede will be demonstrating its MyID® Identity Agent which provides secure delivery of digital identities to devices that contain a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). With Trustonic, the provider of TEE for smart connected devices, Intercede is showing how TEE-stored digital credentials turn mobile devices into a secure yet easy-to-use token for citizens and employees to authenticate themselves to government services, corporate networks and financial services – effectively providing ID anywhere.

Intercede’s CTO Chris Edwards said, “One of the main security challenges facing organisations is to replace the outdated username-and-password model with strong authentication that is both secure and simple to use. Intercede’s approach is to take a device that everyone owns and understands, and to turn that into a secure token which, coupled with a PIN, puts two-factor authentication into a single device that’s already in the user’s pocket.

“The reach of Intercede’s technology has been significantly enhanced by our partnership with Trustonic,” continued Edwards. “As a provider of Trusted Execution Environments for smart connected devices, Trustonic is playing a key role in increasing the security of apps on devices. This is apparent with initiatives like the <t-dev Developer Programme, of which Intercede was one of the first companies to join. At Mobile World Congress we will be demonstrating the fruits of that partnership, and showing a vision of a future without passwords.

“By combining the convenience of mobile devices with the security of TEE protected identities, Intercede aims to make security simple and deliver protection and peace of mind for our customers.”

Ben Cade, CEO of Trustonic, said: “Intercede’s MyID is set to simplify the digital lives of users with Trustonic enabled smart devices. With Trustonic technology already integrated in over 250m devices to date, the future without passwords is near for many.”

The demonstrations will be taking place at Trustonic’s stand in Hall 7, stand 7G81 and also on the Samsung stand. To arrange a time for a one-on-one demonstration or briefing, please contact the Intercede press office.
