Babel PR’s graduate scheme is open – apply now!
Applications are now open for this year’s Babel PR graduate scheme. To hack it in PR you’ll need many strings to your bow, it is fast-paced and requires you to have a wide skill set. If you are on the verge of an application to Babel and would like a little more convincing, here is a list of the most valued qualities in Babel team members.
Smart
Everyone at Babel is switched on. PR is a fast-paced industry and tech is a fast-paced sector, you need to have the ability to take on new information fast and then apply it. Remember the ‘transferable skills’ you were told your degree would teach you? Well here you will certainly use them; a strong academic record is a good indication that you are Babel-ready.
A writer
A major part of PR is writing from blogs to press releases, everything at Babel is driven by quality content, so creative flair is a must. Being able to turn your hand to writing for several clients in a range of styles is a valuable skill in any PR role and is indispensable in order to be part of the team.
Dynamic
PR not only requires you to be ‘a jack of all trades’ but a master of all trades too! At Babel you do a bit of everything: writing, pitching, building press lists, presentations, the list goes on. With such a wide range of tasks it goes without saying life at Babel is far from boring and being able to juggle tasks and meet tight deadlines is essential.
Tech savvy
Babel is a Tech PR specialist. All our clients work in this space and to understand our clients we have to understand the world they work in. You don’t need to be an expert when you join, but you need to be willing to learn. If tech turns you off Babel probably isn’t the place for you.
Personable
So much of PR is about building relationships with people; clients, journalists and the rest of the team. There is no requirement to be extroverted and loud (though there are a few of us in the office!) but being able to communicate efficiently and effectively is vital in this industry, and a certain amount of charm doesn’t hurt!
