Babel expands horizons with Cambridge office opening

If you’re keeping up to date with your PR industry news, you might have read that yesterday Babel officially announced the opening of its second UK office. While we’re headquartered in London, we’ve invested in a new site in Cambridge that will support the increasing number of national and international companies that decide to set up shop in one of the UK’s most prominent tech hubs.

Since the 1970s Cambridge has been a hot bed for innovation and enterprise, earning the nickname ‘Silicon Fen’ due to the high concentration of tech companies in the area. A number of companies that started in or have based themselves in Cambridge, ARM being the most obvious example, have grown to become multinationals, listed on global stock exchanges. We all drew a sharp breath when we learned the value of the Softbank deal to buy ARM Holdings last month, a cool £24.3bn, proving the UK is capable of producing large global tech brands. That said Cambridge is also a magnet for international companies with the likes of Amazon, Apple and Samsung all setting up operations there in recent years.

As an agency we are always looking for opportunities to grow our business internationally, and in the UK, so it would be negligent of us not to expand our operations to support the thriving tech industry in and around Cambridge. We have a history of working with technology companies based in the area, so it seemed only natural to have a local presence.

And with a new office opening we have new clients! Today we’ve also announced that we have commenced work with two new clients based in the region. These are international IoT platform provider Podsystem and merchant payment specialists Cashflows. They will join our existing portfolio of clients based across London and Cambridge, including telecoms software innovator Opencloud.

Our Cambridge clients will benefit from the wealth of knowledge and expertise that resides in our London headquarters, they will have access to international markets through our trusted partner network across the globe.

We’re looking forward to seeing how the Cambridge office can support, nurture and bolster the local technology talent in Cambridge. Our door is now open to Cambridge-based companies.
