Ciena selects Babel to spearhead its US trade media and business press programmes
Leading global networking systems, services and software provider, Ciena, has selected Babel to drive its US trade and international business press programmes, becoming the company’s largest retained PR agency.
Last year, Babel won a competitive pitch process to run Ciena’s international business press programme, focusing on the US and European markets. Babel hit the ground running and was quickly able to demonstrate its understanding of the industry, Ciena’s business objectives, and the messages that resonate with the media. Boasting a strong international team, Babel was invited to run Ciena’s trade media programme in the US, which kicked off in August 2020.
For more than 25 years, Ciena has been the leading enabler of connectivity to support the demand for bandwidth and internet traffic. Headquartered in Hanover, Maryland, Ciena employs over 6,500 staff, providing technology and services to mobile providers, cable and fixed providers, and web scalers.
Babel’s thorough understanding of the telecoms industry, in conjunction with its proactive approach to international PR, has contributed to the successful working relationship with Ciena to date. Babel’s new remit now covers international business and trade media relations, messaging and content development, strategic counsel and local market positioning, events and awards, and the development of key narratives that will resonate with customers, prospects, and media.
Jamie Moody, Director of Corporate Communications at Ciena said: “Over the past year, Babel’s international business press engagement has helped to showcase our relentless pursuit of network innovation and leadership in advancing the underlying networks that fuel our digital world. We look forward to expanding our relationship with Babel to our US trade program.”
Paul Campbell, Associate Director at Babel PR commented: “Ciena has a proud history of innovation, helping many of the world’s biggest telecoms companies differentiate and grow their businesses. The company has been revolutionising the economics and possibilities of telecommunications networks, which today includes the drive toward cloud-based models, virtualisation and automation. We’re very excited to be expanding our working relationship with Ciena and now look forward to promoting its expertise to US trade media.”
